Tech Sector ETFs: Amazon Diss Or Facebook Bliss? (QQQ, XLK, VGT, IYW, AMZN)

Investors may want to keep an eye on tech ETFs today, as they could trade either way, depending on how markets digest Amazon’s lackluster earnings report, according to an article on the Wall Street Sector Selector.

The performance of Amazon may affect the PowerShares QQQ Trust (NasdaqGM: QQQ) and the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEArca: XLK), according to the article.

However, tech-related ETFs may still be enjoying an increase due to the possibility of a Facebook IPO, which may cancel out any negative effects seen from Amazon’s earnings, the article said.

Amazon earned $177 million in the fourth quarter, sharply lower than the $416 million it earned in the same year-earlier quarter, the article noted.
