Latin America ETFs: Beyond Brazil
By Devon Layne | March 13, 2012

Related ETFs: GXG / EPU / ECH / AND / COLX

Brazil-focused ETFs get most of the attention from those looking to invest in South America; however, that doesn’t mean investors shouldn’t consider other countries in the region, particularly countries in the Andean region, according to an article on Zacks.

The article listed the following ETFs focused on the Andean region:

  • Colombia – The Global X FTSE Colombia 20 ETF (NYSEArca: GXG) and the Market Vectors Colombia ETF (NYSEArca: COLX)
  • Peru – iShares MSCI All Peru Capped ETF (NYSEArca: EPU)
  • Chile – iShares MSCI Chile Index Fund (NYSEArca: ECH)

Also mentioned was the Global X FTSE Andean 40 ETF (NYSE: AND), as it offers investors broad access to Chile, Peru and Colombia in one fund, according to the article.

ETFs are arguably the best way for U.S. investors to get exposure in South America, as a majority of individual stocks allocations in the region are only traded locally, Zacks said.
