David Blitzer
David Blitzer is the chairman of the S&P 500 Index Committee and a member of Standard & Poor’s Investment Policy Committee and Economic Forecast Council. He previously served as corporate economist at McGraw-Hill and as senior economic analyst with National Economic Research Associates. Blitzer is often quoted in the national business press and is the author of Outpacing the Pros: Using Indexes to Beat Wall Street’s Savviest Money Managers, McGraw-Hill, 2001.
   

John Bogle
John Bogle is the founder and former CEO of The Vanguard Group, Inc., and president of the Bogle Financial Markets Research Center. He created Vanguard in 1974 and had been associated with a predecessor company since 1951, following his graduation from Princeton University magna cum laude in economics. Mr. Bogle founded the Vanguard 500 Index Fund, the first index mutual fund, in 1975. Vanguard now comprises some 130 mutual funds with $1.3 trillion in assets.
   

John Haslem
John Haslem is professor emeritus of finance at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park. He served the Smith School as founding academic affairs dean and as founding chair of the finance department. His mutual funds analysis course was the first of its kind. Mr. Haslem has authored five books, including Mutual Funds: Risk and Performance Analysis for Decision Making, Oxford: Blackwell Publishing, 2003.
   

Kelly Haughton
Kelly Haughton serves as the strategic director for Russell indexes. As the leader of the development of Russell’s family of U.S. equity indexes, he developed float adjustment and style methodologies that have become industry standards. Mr. Haughton is the principal spokesperson for the Russell indexes and the chief Internet strategist for Russell. He moved to his current role after 12 years of heading Russell’s client service programs for U.S. institutional investors.
   

Jane Li
Jane Li is manager of FundQuest’s Investment Management & Research Team. She joined FundQuest in 2000 and is the portfolio manager for the firm’s Large Core Equity separate account strategy. Ms. Li also performs research on mutual funds, ETFs and alternative investments. Ms. Li received her B.A. in economics from Fudan University, an M.A. in economics from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. in finance from the Boston College Carroll School of Management. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Howard Present
Howard Present is co-founder, president and CEO of F-Squared Investments, a quantitative-based investment firm. Previously, he was managing director at Evergreen Investments, where he served on the Executive Committee; and managing director at Putnam Investments. Mr. Present earlier ran Chase Manhattan Private Bank’s offshore fund business. He earned a B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from Emory University. Mr. Present has authored or co-authored several strategy white papers and research studies covering the investment industry.

Edward Tower
Edward Tower is a professor of economics at Duke University. He came to Duke in 1974 after receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1971. Mr. Tower has held appointments at multiple institutions, ranging from the Australian National University to the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration to Nanjing University in the People’s Republic of China. He has also consulted on economic development problems at the World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
