John Bogle

John Bogle is the founder and former CEO of The Vanguard Group, Inc., and president of the Bogle Financial Markets Research Center. He created Vanguard in 1974 and had been associated with a predecessor company since 1951, following his graduation from Princeton University magna cum laude in economics. Bogle founded the Vanguard 500 Index Fund, the first index mutual fund, in 1975. Vanguard now holds some $1.3 trillion in assets. Bogle’s seventh book, “Enough. True Measures of Money, Business, and Life,” was published in November 2008.

Remy Briand

Remy Briand is managing director and global head of Index Research at MSCI Barra. He is responsible for the continual expansion, refinement and improvement of the MSCI indices, as well as overseeing their day-to-day management. Briand also leads MSCI Barra’s applied research team, which identifies early-stage investment trends. He joined MSCI Barra in 2001 from Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management, where he was head of Research.

Sabrina Callin

Sabrina Callin is a managing director and member of Pimco’s alternative investment solutions team, and a product manager for global portable alpha-based equity and unconstrained bond strategies. She is the author of the book “Portable Alpha Theory and Practice” (2008). Prior to joining Pimco in 1998, Callin was a manager in the assurance and business advisory services group at KPMG Peat Marwick. She holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and undergraduate degrees from Texas Christian University. Callin is also a certified public accountant.

Gary Gastineau

Gary Gastineau is a managing member of Managed ETFs LLC, a firm interested in launching actively managed ETFs; and a partner in Skyhawk Management, LLC, the adviser to a market-neutral hedge fund that buys ETFs and sells them short. He is the author of “The Exchange-Traded Funds Manual,” as well as “Someone Will Make Money on Your Funds—Why Not You? (A Better Way to Select Mutual and Exchange-Traded Funds).” Gastineau is a frequent contributor to the Journal of Indexes.

Steve Jones

Steve Jones is a vice president and product manager for Pimco’s portable alpha-based equity strategies in the Newport Beach, Calif., office. He was previously a member of the short-term portfolio management team and also held positions in account management. Jones is a contributing author of “Portable Alpha Theory and Practice,” published in 2008. Prior to joining Pimco in 2000, he was an analyst at Collins Associates, a fund-of-funds investment management firm. Jones holds an M.B.A. from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine.

David Krein

David Krein is senior director of institutional markets for Dow Jones Indexes, where he serves as a liaison to the institutional investment community globally, and guides the research and development of new and enhanced index benchmarks. Prior to joining DJI, Krein was president of DTB Capital, a firm he founded in 2006 to develop indexes and structured investment products for derivatives exchanges and the over-the-counter marketplace. Krein holds an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

David Owyong

David Owyong, an MSCI vice president, leads the applied research team for MSCI Barra in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, he was the director of Quantitative Research and Risk Management at Ajia, a Hong Kong-based hedge fund. Owyong holds an M.S. in statistics and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University, and has also obtained the Investment Management Certificate (IMC Level 3) from the U.K. Society of Investment Professionals.
