Roger Aliaga-Díaz is a senior economist with the investment strategy group at Vanguard. Before joining Vanguard in 2007, he was a visiting professor of macroeconomics at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. Aliaga-Díaz has presented his research to various groups, including the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from North Carolina State University and his B.A. in economics from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina.

Robert Arnott is chairman and founder of asset management firm Research Affiliates LLC. He is also the former chairman of First Quadrant LP and has served as a global equity strategist at Salomon Brothers (now part of Citigroup) and as the president of TSA Capital Management (now part of Analytic Investors LLC). Arnott was editor-in-chief of the Financial Analysts Journal from 2002 through 2006. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

David Blitzer is managing director and chairman of the Standard & Poor’s Index Committee. He has overall responsibility for security selection for S&P’s indexes and index analysis and management. Blitzer previously served as chief economist for S&P and corporate economist at The McGraw-Hill Companies, S&P’s parent corporation. A graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in engineering, he received his M.A. in economics from George Washington University and his Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University.

David Krein is senior director of institutional markets for Dow Jones Indexes, where he serves as a liaison to the institutional investment community globally, and guides the research and development of new and enhanced index benchmarks. Prior to joining DJI, Krein was president of DTB Capital, a firm he founded in 2006 to develop indexes and structured investment products. Krein holds an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

William Perry is an executive director for Morgan Stanley’s emerging markets debt team. He joined the firm in 2010 after 16 years at J.P. Morgan, where he was the head of the Latin American team in the global special opportunities group. Perry had previously been the credit deputy to the global head of emerging markets and co-head of EM Corporate research at J.P. Morgan. He received his MBA in finance from Columbia Business School and his B.A. from Colgate University in international relations.

Christopher Philips, CFA, is a senior investment analyst for Vanguard Investment Strategy Group. This group is responsible for capital markets research, the asset allocations used in solutions for Vanguard’s funds-of-funds, and maintaining and enhancing the investment methodology used for advice-based relationships with high-net-worth and institutional clients. Philips has authored several research papers on topics of concern to institutional and high-net-worth audiences. He holds a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College.

Brian Upbin, CFA, CAIA, is a director and head of Index Research in the Barclays Capital Index, Portfolio and Risk Solutions group. His research is regularly published in Barclays Capital’s publications, as well as in independent periodicals.Upbin joined Barclays Capital in September 2008 from Lehman Brothers, where he was the head of the US Fixed Income Index Strategies team. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Yale University.
