CBOE Sees Options Volume Increase CBOE Holdings saw its options volume increase 16 percent year-over-year in October to an average daily volume of 5 million contracts. Almost 40 percent of that daily volume was ETF- or index-based options.
While index options saw their average daily volume increase 35 percent year-over-year to 1.4 million contracts in October, ETF options were up 49 percent to 1.5 million contracts. The most actively traded of those contracts included the options on the S&P 500 Index, SPDR S&P 500 ETF, VIX, iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (NYSE Arca: IWM) and PowerShares QQQ (Nasdaq GM: QQQ).
