CME Volume Down In April CME Group reported a year-over-year decline in average daily volume of 12 percent for the month of April. On average, the exchange saw daily volumes of 10.7 million contracts, or 225 million contracts in total volume for April, according to a press release.
However, average daily volume in contracts on equity indexes was up 6 percent, despite most categories seeing declines. According to the CME Group’s monthly volume report, the e-mini S&P 500 futures, the most actively traded index futures contract, saw its total volume for the month increase by nearly 10 percent, while volume on the e-mini Nasdaq-100 futures was up 15.1 percent. The monthly volume for the mini $5 Dow contract was up a whopping 31 percent.
