CME Group Sets Record
The CME Group, which acquired
the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT)
in 2007, once again saw record volumes.
The entire group achieved a
total of 2.8 billion contracts traded
for 2007, with an average daily volume
of 11 million contracts, up 28
percent from the previous year.
On the Chicago Mercantile
Exchange, average daily volume
for equity and index futures contracts
was 2.5 million, a 34 percent
increase over 2006. Its complex
of E-Mini index futures contracts
achieved average daily volumes of
2.5 million, a 50 percent increase
from 2006.
