Russell Names Heads Of ETF Business Russell Investments announced in late January two new hires who will lead its developing ETF operations.
James Polisson will be the managing director of the firm’s global ETF business. Prior to joining Russell, Polisson was the chief marketing officer at Barclays Global Investors, the issuer of the iShares.
Andrew Arenberg also joins Russell from Barclays Global Investors, where he most recently was a managing director for BGI’s global e-business. At Russell, Arenberg will serve as managing director of global ETF distribution. Polisson and Arenberg had extensive involvement with BGI’s iShares business while with the company; both will be based in San Francisco in their new positions with Russell.
FTSE Policy Group Has New Chair FTSE Group said it had appointed a new head of its FTSE policy group; the group consists of volunteers selected from the financial services field who provide real-world advice to FTSE on the management and strategic direction of its indexes, such as coverage of underlying markets and methodology issues.
David Hobbs, a FTSE Group director, will oversee the committee as its chairman. Hobbs joined FTSE in July 2006; he was previously a managing director and UBS Global Asset Management’s global head of passive investment. Hobbs was also the chairman of the FTSE Equity Indices Committee while still at UBS.
