Investors plowed $897.7 million into the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY), making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list. Stocks had a mixed performance, with the S&P falling slightly.
Net inflows were $257.1 million, and total assets under management fell to $1.207 trillion from $1.212 trillion on Wednesday, March 28.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 19.61 points, or 0.15 percent, to close at 13,145.82. Stock performance was lackluster in the absence of any news showing significant improvement in the economy. The S&P 500 fell 2.26 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 1,403.28.
The No. 2 fund on the creations list was the iShares Barclays TIPS Bond Fund (NYSEArca: TIP), which had $235.7 million in inflows. The No. 3 fund on the list was the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average Trust (NYSEArca: DIA), which had $65.6 million in inflows.
U.S.-focused equity ETFs had inflows of $638.1 million, while U.S.-focused fixed-income ETFs had inflows of $442.8 million in inflows.
Redemptions
Investors meanwhile pulled $619.8 million from the iShares MSCI EAFE Index Fund (NYSEArca: EFA), making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list.
The No. 2 fund on the outflows list was the Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEArca: XLI), which had outflows of $400.5 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the iShares MSCI Brazil Index Fund (NYSEArca: EWZ), which had outflows of $233.8 million.
