ETF Fund Flows: SPY Adds $927.9 Million More

Investors plowed $927.9 million into the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPDR), making it the No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list. Stocks were down on renewed concern over the status of Greek debt negotiations. Net inflows were $1.94 billion and total assets under management rose to $1.136 trillion yesterday from $1.129 trillion on Monday, Jan. 23, according to data compiled by IndexUniverse. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 11.66 points, or 0.09 percent, to close at 12,708.82. The Dow was down after four days of gains apparently in response to finance ministers in Brussels stating that they would not increase the bailout fund for Greece. The S&P 500 was up 0.62 points, or 0.05 percent, to close at 1,316. The No. 2 fund on IndexUniverse’s creations list was the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSEArca: IWM), which had inflows of $339.9 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the PowerShares QQQ Trust (NasdaqGM: QQQ), which had inflows of $248 million. Investors continued to pour money into bonds yesterday. U.S. fixed-income ETFs had inflows of $336.4 million. Redemptions The No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list was the SPDR Gold ETF (NYSEArca: GLD), which had outflows of $276.9 million. The No. 2 fund on the redemptions list was the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average Trust (NYSEArca: DIA), which had outflows of $133.1 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the Industrial Select SPDR ETF (NYSEArca: XLI), which had outflows of $102.9 million.
