ETF Fund Flows: VWO Adds $693.8 Million

Investors poured $693.8 million into the Vanguard MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSEArca: VWO) yesterday, making it the No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list, as net inflows powered total U.S.-listed ETF assets to a record, offsetting stocks that fell on renewed concerns about Greece. Net flows were $1.58 billion and total assets under management rose to a record $1.164 trillion, eclipsing the previous record $1.159 trillion set on Wednesday, Feb. 2, according to data compiled by IndexUniverse. The Dow Jones industrial average was down by 11 points, or 0.1 percent, to close at 12,705. Stocks were down on disappointing quarterly earnings reports from health care companies and concern over the possibility of resolving Greece’s debt crisis. The S&P 500 rose 1.45 points, or 0.1 percent, to close at 1,325.54. The No. 2 fund on IndexUniverse’s creations list was the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund (NYSEArca: EEM), which had inflows of $503.9 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the SPDR Gold Trust ETF (NYSEArca: GLD), which had inflows of $340.4 million. U.S.-focused fixed-income ETFs meanwhile had outflows of $121.1 million. Redemptions The No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10” Redemptions list was the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY), which had outflows of $484.1 million. The No. 2 fund on the redemptions list was the iShares MSCI EAFE Index ETF (NYSEArca: EFA), which had outflows of $382.8 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average Trust (NYSEArca: DIA), which had outflows of $355.0 million. Top 10 Creations (All ETFs)
