|
Investors pulled $759.4 million out of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY) on Friday, putting it at the top of IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list. Total ETF assets dipped about 1 percent as stocks fell on renewed concern about Greece, and net flows were negative. Total assets under management declined after days of setting records as the Dow Jones industrial average suffered its worst day of 2012 due in large part to fears about a potential Greek default. The Dow fell 89.23 points, or 0.69 percent, to close at 12,801.23. Net outflows meanwhile totaled $771.99 million, helping pull total U.S.-listed ETF assets under management to $1.172 trillion from a record $1.184 trillion on Thursday, Feb. 9. The iShares S&P 400 MidCap Fund (NYSEArca: IJH), suffered $211.9 million in outflows, making it No. 2 on the redemptions list. The No. 3 fund on the list was the Financial Select SPDR Fund (NYSEArca: XLF), which had outflows of $185.6 million. Creations Investors meanwhile put $292.9 million into the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Corporate Bond (NYSEArca: VCIT), making it the No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list. The No. 2 fund on the creations list was the SPDR Barclays Capital High Yield Bond ETF (NYSEArca: JNK), which had inflows of $200.5 million. The No. 3 fund on the list was the iShares Barclays MBS Bond Fund (NYSEArca: MBB), which had inflows of $86.5 million. With the drop in equities, investors rushed into bonds.
