|
Investors plowed $166.5 million into the SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEArca: GLD) ETF, making it the No. 1 fund on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list. Stocks surged and the Dow ended at its highest level since 2008 on hopes Greece’s bailout would go forward and encouraging news about the U.S. job market. Net outflows were $442.20 million. However, due to the market’s rise, total assets under management rose to $1.182 trillion from $1.777 trillion on Wednesday, Feb. 15, according to data compiled by IndexUniverse. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 123.13 points, or 0.96 percent, to close at 12,904.08, in part because weekly first-time jobless claims fell to their lowest level since March 2008, and on optimism eurozone policymakers were close to finalizing a second bailout package for Greece. The S&P 500 gained 14.81 points, or 1.1 percent, to close at 1,358.04. The No. 2 fund on IndexUniverse’s creations list was the iShares S&P 500 Index Fund (NYSEArca: IVV), which had inflows of $150.2 million. The No. 3 fund was the iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond Fund (NYSEArca: LQD), which had inflows of $127.0 million. In terms of asset classes, U.S.-listed bond funds pulled in $196.4 million even as Treasurys sold off in yesterday's stock market rally. Commodities funds added $160.7 million in fresh assets. But U.S.-listed equities funds bled $792.1 million in assets. Redemptions That move out of equities was led by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY), which had outflows of $823.1 million, making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list. The No. 2 fund on the redemptions list was the PowerShares QQQ Trust (NasdaqGM: QQQ), which had outflows of $286.4 million.
