ETF Fund Flows: SPY And EEM Top Creations List

State Street Global Advisors’ S&P 500 ETF (NYSEArca: SPY) and iShares' MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund (NYSEArca: EEM) led exchange-traded fund creations on Friday, as the stock market gained a bit more ground after posting sharp losses in June, according to data compiled by IndexUniverse.com. The two equity ETFs added $2.45 billion and $178.5 million, respectively, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR (NYSEArca: XLE) rounded out the top-three creations list on Friday. The energy fund added $139.4 million. The PowerShares QQQ ETF (NYSEArca: QQQQ) of Nasdaq’s 100 biggest companies was meanwhile again at the top of the redemptions list. Investors pulled $521.9 million out of the “Qs.” They also redeemed $141.6 million from the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSEArca: IWM), which was third on the redemptions list. Total assets under management in the 1,014 U.S. ETFs now trading were almost $807 billion on Friday. That figure includes $1.63 billion in new assets, and market movement. Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 511.55 points, or 5.3 percent, to close at 10,198.03. Complete ETF daily data follow below.
