Asia mixed on weak U.S. manufacturing data; Europe gains and U.S. futures indicate slightly higher opening on U.S. budget talks.

Asia
- Asian stock indexes were mixed on an unexpected fall in U.S. manufacturing and on encouraging signs in U.S. budget talks.
- The Nikkei fell 0.27 percent; S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.62 percent; Hang Seng rose 0.15 percent; KOSPI declined 0.25 percent; the Shanghai Composite advanced 0.78 percent.
Europe
- European stock indexes gained as U.S. lawmakers continued to address the fiscal cliff. Look for increases in the Vanguard MSCI Europe ETF (NYSEArca: VGK).
Domestic
- U.S. stock futures slowly advanced today after a drop in stocks yesterday due to poor U.S. manufacturing data, and as investors focus on the federal budget negotiations.

Gold and Silver Slipped
- Gold fell 0.79 percent, or $13.48, to $1702.48. Expect declines in the SPDR Gold Shares physical bullion ETF (NYSEArca: GLD).
- Silver dropped 1.50 percent, or $0.46, to $33.16. Expect decreases in the iShares Silver Trust (NYSEArca: SLV).
WTI and Brent Oil Sank
- The January contract for WTI crude oil fell 1.13 percent, or $1.01, to $88.08 per barrel.
- The January contract for Brent crude oil increased 1.08 percent, or $1.20, to $109.72 per barrel.
- Expect declines in the United States Oil Fund (NYSEArca: USO) and in the United States Brent Oil Fund (NYSEArca: BNO).
Fund Flows
On Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, the top ETF in nominal inflows was the PowerShares QQQ (NasdaqGM: QQQ), with creations of $295.65 million. The top ETF in nominal outflows was the Vanguard Mid-Cap ETF (NYSEArca: VO), with redemptions of $1.39 billion.
