Asia mixed on strong U.S. jobless data; Europe drops and U.S. stock futures point to flat opening ahead of payroll data.
International
Asia
- Asian stock indexes were mixed on better-than-expected U.S. jobless claims data.
- The Nikkei decreased 0.19 percent; S&P/ASX 200 advanced 0.94 percent; Hang Seng fell 0.26 percent; KOSPI rose 0.40 percent; the Shanghai Composite soared 1.60 percent.
Europe
- European stock indexes fell ahead of U.S. payroll data. Look for drops in the Vanguard MSCI Europe ETF (NYSEArca: VGK).
- Industrial production in Germany in October fell 2.6 percent, a steeper decline in output than expected.
Domestic
- U.S. stock futures are unchanged ahead of nonfarm payroll data.
- According to the employment situation report, nonfarm payrolls are estimated to increase by 80,000 in November, down from an increase of 171,000 in October. This report is estimated to show that unemployment increased to 8.0 percent in November from 7.9 percent in October.

Gold and Silver Fell
- Gold dropped 0.13 percent, or $2.24, to $1697.64. Expect decreases in the SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEArca: GLD).
- Silver declined 0.52 percent, or $0.16, to $32.86. Expect small declines in the iShares Silver Trust (NYSEArca: SLV).
WTI and Brent Oil Slipped
- The January contract for WTI crude oil dropped 0.19 percent, or $0.16, to $86.10 per barrel.
- The January contract for Brent crude oil rose 0.15 percent, or $0.16, to $107.19 per barrel.
- Expect declines in the United States Oil Fund (NYSEArca: USO) and small advances in the United States Brent Oil Fund (NYSEArca: BNO).
