iShares Files For 10+ Year Bond Funds

Barclays Global Investors recently filed for two funds focused on fixed-income issues with maturities of 10 years or more. The iShares 10+ Year Government/Credit Bond Fund and iShares 10+ Year Credit Bond Fund will track the BofA Merrill Lynch 10+ Year US Corporate & Government Index and the BofA Merrill Lynch 10+ Year US Corporate & Yankees Index, respectively. Both funds will charge an expense ratio of 20 basis points.

The government/credit bond fund will cover “long-term, investment-grade U.S. corporate and government bond markets,” according to its prospectus; it will trade under the symbol “GLJ.” The credit bond fund will trade under the ticker “CLY” and will track U.S. corporate debt securities and U.S. dollar-denominated debt from non-U.S. corporations and governments, in addition to supranational debt.

Jefferies Plans Wildcatters And Natural Gas ETFs

Investment bank Jefferies has filed for two more traditional index ETFs. The Jefferies Natural Gas Equity ETF will track companies that rely on exploration and production of natural gas for the majority of their revenues, while the Jefferies Energy Wildcatters Equity ETF will cover small- and mid-cap pure-play companies that engage in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas.

Grail Files For Bond ETFs

Grail Advisors has filed for a total of three new actively managed fixed-income ETFs. Two—the Grail McDonnell Intermediate Municipal Bond ETF and the Grail McDonnell Core Taxable Bond ETF—will be subadvised by McDonnell Investment Management LLC. The RP Short Duration ETF, the third fund, will be subadvised by RiverPark Advisors and Cohanzick Management. It will invest primarily in short-term debt with the goal of achieving an average maturity for the fund of three years or less.
