ETF Congressional Hearing Testimonies
By Olivier Ludwig | October 19, 2011

IndexUniverse is publishing the congressional testimonies of iShares’ Managing Director Noel Archard and three other panelists at a special hearing on ETFs on Oct. 19 examining, among other topics, whether exchanged-traded funds are contributing to volatility and posing risks to the financial system.

The hearing, held by a subcommittee of the Senate Banking Committee, is titled “Market Microstructure: Examination of Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs).”

The names and affiliations of the panelists, and hyperlinks to each of their testimonies, are below:

  • Noel Archard, managing director at iShares, the world’s biggest ETF firm
  • Harold Bradley, chief investment officer at the Kauffman Foundation, and co-author in the past year of two papers critical of ETFs
  • Eric Noll, an executive at Nasdaq, the second-biggest U.S. exchange, in charge of transaction services
  • Eileen Rominger, director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investment Management division

The meeting is being conducted by Jack Reed (D-RI), and IndexUniverse will provide a live blogging of the proceedings.

Various ETF providers have added their own statements around this panel as well, and hyperlinks to those comments will be added throughout the day.
