Spanish ETF Volumes Double In 2009

ETF trades on the Spanish stock exchange during 2009 increased by 99% over 2008 levels, according to a press release from the Bolsas y Mercados Españoles. ETF trading volume in December 2009 was €303.9 million, up 29.5% from the same month in 2008, while for the whole year it totalled €3.47bn. Overall equity trading volume on the Spanish exchange in 2009 was €897 billion, down 28% from the previous year. However, trading volumes in corporate debt on the exchange hit an all-time high in 2009, at €3.69 trillion, up 54% from 2008. |
