When it comes to domestic REITs, four big real estate exchange-traded funds have the market cornered, offering investors the diversification, liquidity and low fees they are looking for, TheStreet.com reported Thursday.
Though there are other ETFs in that space, iShares Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate (NYSEArca: IYR), iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors (ICF), Vanguard REIT (VNQ) and SPDR Dow Jones REIT (RWR) are hard to beat. With costs ranging from 0.15 to 0.48 percent in fees, they benefit from economies of scale.
The funds also provide similar asset allocation, and have shown year-to-date returns of anywhere from 16.4 to 21.7 percent.
